Ultra Smooth Sails |
SAIL CONSTRUCTION
As of 1/1/2001, Ultra Smooth Sails are made from either 1.4 mil or 2 mil polyester film. Seams are put together with 3M acrylic 2 mil transfer adhesive. Corner supports (tadding) are 5 mil clear mylar adhesive one side, and 5 mil nylon sticky back (red, white, blue, green, black, or bubble gum, orange and yellow colors). Luff and leech seams are supported by 1 mil clear polyester tape.
RECEIVING YOUR SAILS
As soon as possible, remove sails from tube and hang. You may need to use heat (hair dryer as medium heat setting) on crew and head. Lay them flat and weight with a telephone book. DO NOT use heat on white polyester film.
Bad wrinkle or creases: Put under a light bulb to warm. DO NOT get the material too close or too hot. Warm for approximately 1 minute. Then put a telephone book on top of crease along with additional weight. Leave for 4 hours. Repeat one time if necessary. Remember, DO NOT heat too hot. You can damage the polyester film. Or, use clear 2" packing tape on top of crease. This should reduce actual creasing by 85% to 95%.
REPAIR POLICY
Sails can be repaired. Call for a quote and time estimate.
CLEANING
Use a glass cleaner such as Windex or 409 gently on a soft cloth. This should remove almost anything. Acetone can be used for stubborn spots.
